Michael L. "Mike" Phillips, N-Scale Weekend Founder
September 4, 1953 ~ February 21, 2023
Michael L. Phillips 69, of Bedford, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on September 4, 1953 in Bedford, a son of the late Francis J. and Doris Jean (Harclerode) Phillips Jr. On June 30, 1978 in Bedford he married Peggy (Reynolds) Phillips who preceded him in death on April 14, 2013. He is survived by two children: Kelley Phillips of Bedford, and Brigetta Pieper of Springfield, IL; seven grandchildren; his golden retriever Sophie, and his special friend Deb Suder of Bedford.
Mike retired as a CAD operator for Rockland Manufacturing. He also ran a videography and photography service for over 700 weddings. He was a N scale model train enthusiast and enjoyed introducing others into the hobby. Mike organized a local model train show in 2000 that developed into conventions and trade shows for model railroaders across the area. He also in his earlier years enjoyed racing slot cars, motocross and playing hockey. Mike was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and especially a Penguins fan. His friends meant the world to him.
